Welcome to Jewish Richmond!

Our History…Jews have been part of the Commonwealth since the first settlements at Jamestown. During the Revolutionary, War, Richmond established itself along with New York, Charleston and Philadelphia as one of the largest Jewish cultural centers in the country. Richmond’s first Jewish congregation, formally established in 1789, was the first in the state of Virginia and the sixth and western-most congregation in the colonies.

Richmond's Jewish Resources and Organizations

The Jewish Community Federation of Richmond (JCFR) is the central address for the Richmond Jewish community. The Federation’s annual UJA Jewish Welfare Fund Campaign provides necessary funding for the Jewish community in Richmond, in Israel and around the world.
